The Group:
Sault are a prolific British music group that make a mixture of R&B, urban contemporary gospel, house and disco. Producer & songwriter Inflo is widely understood to be the central force behind the group. He’s known for shaping some of the most distinctive soul and alternative music of the past decade for Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka & Cleo Sol.
The LP:
With many albums under their belt, Chapter 1 released on Friday and is set to be another timeless classic from this collective. Their records are typically produced as limited run presses and can be hard to get after the initial release.
With minimal public presence, Sault let the music speak raw, urgent, and contemporary. True to form, Chapter 1 arrives with minimal announcement but maximum intent. Another bold statement from a group that continues to move in its own lane. This latest instalment yet again features contributions from R&B singer Cleo Sol, known for her soft, rich, soulful voice.
Talking about the album the group said it moves with patience and belief. Rhythm, breath, and silence sit side by side, creating a space that is reflective yet charged. There is warmth and expectation. A sense that something is gathering.
