He was profoundly influential, having inspired generations of musicians in Brazil and beyond; guitarist Joao Gilberto, for instance, confessed to having taken the new rhythm pattern from Donato’s piano playing. Presented here in its entirety is Donato’s album Muito a Vontade, recorded in a quartet format in 1962 and featuring the great Milton Banana on drums, best known for his playing with Joao Gilberto and Stan Getz.
