The bad character MC alter ego of producer
Madlib, Quasimoto released two albums on Stones
Throw in the early 2000s: the underground hip-hop
cult classic The Unseen (2000) and The Further
Adventures of Lord Quas (2005).
The Unseen was among the new decades first
sleeper hits, ranking on Spins year end list at a
time when the producer and label were unknown
outside hip-hop DJ circles. The Further
Adventures of Lord Quas continued to build
Madlibs reputation as one of the most creative and
fearlessly skewed creators in hip-hop.
In addition to his work as a solo artist, Madlib has
collaborated with Four Tet, Freddie Gibbs, J Dilla
(as Jaylib), and most famously with MF DOOM (as
Madvillain).
Yessir Whatever collects 12 Quasimoto tracks
recorded over a roughly twelve-year period.
The album is now released in a new silver vinyl
edition, with a silver foil peel-off sticker revealing
Quasimotos guts.
